  • Value Added Resellers (VARs)

VARs licence digital based Geographic Information from LPS.
The licence permits the data to be used within customer products.
Because the final product adds value to the original data, they are called a ‘value-added’ reseller.
LPS and VAR agree a business model for value added products and/or Services.
LPS charge them a combination of up-front fee, plus royalties based on their sales of the relevant products and/or Services.

  • Demo/Developers

This Licence gives access to LPS Geographic Information for product development and subsequent demonstration purposes only;

Products and/or Services can only be supplied to the customer under a VAR or Distributor Agent.

The cost of a Demo/Developer Licence is currently £300 + VAT

  • Agents

An Agent arranges a sale of LPS Mapping or Geographic Information for LPS

·LPS invoices the customer

·LPS sets the price

·The agent gets a commission from LPS, called a finder’s fee.

The liabilities and contracts are directly between LPS and the customer.

Digital Distributors supply digital versions of LPS Geographic Information, rather than paper versions of maps for example.

·A Distributor orders the product from LPS at a discount price.

·The Distributor licenses the product to the Customer.

·They invoice the customer at whatever price they wish and thus make their mark-up or margin.

The liabilities and contracts are in a chain, the distributor being liable in the first instance.

  • Wholesalers/Retailers/Distributors (Paper)

                       Wholesalers

A Wholesaler sells or is related to selling goods in large quantities for resale to the consumer.

                       Retailers

A Retailer buys goods or products in large quantities from manufacturers or importers, either directly or through a wholesaler, and then sells individual items or small quantities to the general public or end user customers, usually in a shop, also called store.

                       Distributor (Paper)

A Distributor is a company acting as a representative selling (distributing) products supplied by another.

LPS Licensed Partners are companies that have completed the LPS Licensed Partner Accreditation Programme (prior to the 1st April 2008 this would have been the Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland Licensed Partner Programme).

On completion of this programme the partners will have gained a good understanding of our GI data, strategies and processes, and work in a close partnership with LPS

  • Paper Mapping Licensed Partners

LPS Paper Map Licensed Partners are companies that publish both their own and bespoke paper mapping products, by adding value to LPS digital data, through the use of their own unique symbology, format and colour

Land and Property Services has built on the success of its Licensed Partner program and created a PMLP agreement to suit the paper mapping industry.

LPS works closely with these companies to ensure that all customers receive a high level of service.

How to become a Paper Map Licensed Partner

In order to become a PMLP you need to be working in the business of map publishing.
