Land and Property Services welcomes Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland and Land Registers Northern Ireland1st April 2008. Today is a landmark date for Land and Property Services (LPS) as we welcome former agencies, Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland® (OSNI®) and Land Registers Northern Ireland (LRNI) into the LPS family. This now completes the merger process that commenced last year when the former Rates Collection Agency and the Valuation and Lands Agency joined LPS. The immediate priority for LPS is to continue to integrate the people and processes of the legacy agencies. Once this integration is complete LPS can start delivering a fully integrated ‘One Stop Shop’ for rating, valuation, registration and mapping services in Northern Ireland. John Wilkinson, Chief Executive of LPS comments “In acknowledging the completion of the formal merger process today I would like to do two things. Firstly, thank everyone who has worked so hard over the last year to take LPS forward. Secondly, welcome the staff from the former LRNI and OSNI to LPS. Change isn’t easy in any organisation and it has impressed me greatly at how well staff have adapted. We still have a great deal of work to do, but I am confident and optimistic that the contribution that LPS will make to Northern Ireland in the future will be both a significant and positive one.” Ends About LPS:The intention to create the Agency was announced in the Review of Public Administration in March 2006. The Agency was established initially from the merger of the Rate Collection Agency and the Valuation and Lands Agency on 1st April. This is followed by the addition of Land Registers Northern Ireland and Ordnance Survey of Northern Ireland on 1 April 2008. Land & Property Services is responsible for all mapping, land registration, valuation and rating revenue and benefits in Northern Ireland.
