Farm Diversification Scheme
Farm Diversification Relief is new. It is available from 1 April 2007 to assist farmers who branch out into non -agricultural activities.
Background
While you do not have to pay rates on agricultural land and buildings when they are used for agricultural purposes, such land and buildings do become rateable when they are used for non-agricultural activities. Therefore the Farm Diversification Scheme has been introduced to provide rate relief in these circumstances.

If you meet the conditions of this scheme you will get 50% relief on your rates provided the net annual value does not exceed £7,000.
